Created to serve southern Alberta, the idea for Dueling Arts came to life in 2024 as a bold fusion of creativity, courage, and community spirit. More than just an art competition, Dueling Arts is a high-energy experience, part gallery, part party, and all passion. Artists go head to head in live showdowns, transforming blank canvases into bold expressions of imagination, emotion, and storytelling while the crowd circles in close, creating a vortex of energy and excitement.

With live music setting the rhythm and cheers echoing through the room, every duel becomes a celebration of artistry and adrenaline. Whether you’re a seasoned painter, a first-time competitor, or a spectator caught up in the rush, Dueling Arts offers a front row view of creativity in motion, no galleries, no gatekeepers, just raw talent and a pulsing, party-like atmosphere.

Artists can register for specific events or enter a lottery draw for a chance to compete in limited-space duels. With age-specific categories and an open, inclusive spirit, Dueling Arts brings local creators and the community together for an unforgettable night where every brushstroke adds to the story.

 

🛠️ How It Works

​

• Tickets for general entry are available online or at the door (Psssst! its cheaper to buy ahead but tickets are limited!)

• Artist Registration: All participants must register online in advance. 

• Age Brackets: Events may include age based categories due to licensing. Please check individual event descriptions for more information.

• Mediums Vary: Events may features different art styles. Watercolour, acrylic, oil, chalk, spray, and more. Details are listed per event.

• Bring Your Own Supplies (BYOS): Artists are encouraged to bring their own tools. We want you to use what you know best! However Basic supplies will be provided! We’ll also always provide the canvas for consistency.

• Time Limit: With 3 rounds per event, each duel lasts 20 minutes; fast, focused, and full of flair.

• Guest Spot: Attendees can enter their name for a chance to compete in the final round.

• Voting: Winners are chosen by live token vote, round by round. With an over all winner taking home the grand prize. (most overall total votes per event)

• Prize: The overall event winner receives a $250 cash prize.

• Live Auction: All artwork is auctioned on-site. Proceeds are split between the artist and a rotating local charity.
